Traci tells us about her experience with Chairs to Recovery!
Chairs to Recovery is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that provides lift chairs to patients undergoing breast surgery either preventatively (due to gene mutation) or cancer-related.
Our services are funded entirely by donations and the work of our volunteers.
After Surgery patients are sore, have drains attached, and often have trouble sleeping in their bed. The lift chair provides a more comfortable and easier way to recover.
All the chairs recline and lift with a push of the remote. This allows you to get up and down with less help from others.
MADDY'S CHAIRS TO RECOVERY EXPERIENCE:
“The chair committee was so helpful, I would have been lost without them. When my first chair malfunctioned (which has since been fixed) they were quick to get me a new one and stayed in communication with me to make sure everything was working.
Having somewhere to comfortably sit and sleep was a huge benefit. You don’t realize how hard it is to get comfortable until you have drains coming out of you.
It is a must for recovery.
My favorite feature is being able to adjust the chair to the perfect level of comfort.

No! Donations from others entirely fund our foundation. This means we can provide you with a lift chair for your surgery at NO COST!
Preference is given to patients undergoing breast surgery either preventatively (due to gene mutation) or cancer-related.
Due to overwhelming demand, we have Multiple designated pickup locations in Lincoln and Omaha Metros where you can pick up your chair. We will help load it into your vehicle.
You can keep the chair for however long it takes you to recover. When you're done contact us for pick up.
Our Volunteers & Donations provide items listed below that are helpful in your recovery
What started in 2018 with just one chair has grown to over 30 lift chairs today!
Here’s how it all began (in the words of Suzy):
“Leslie is my friend that lives in Lincoln. Her friends raised money so she could buy a chair and promised she would pass it on to others when she recovered. It just happened that I had my surgery right after her recovery, so she loaned me the chair and told me to do the same - pass it on afterward.
I saw in the cancer group that Jen had an upcoming surgery so I offered it to her. She didn't know anyone that needed it after her so she brought the chair back to my house.
After seeing other Pink members talking about upcoming surgeries I thought it would be a good idea to keep it in the group.”
And thanks to donations by others and monetary donations, we have been able to add additional chairs to bring our total to 28!
If you or someone you know needs a lift chair, they can reach out to us via the Email us at info@chairstorecovery.com, or fill out the Request a chair button on this page.
